Foster Care Q&A

Mew is a foster based rescue without a physical facility. All of our cats are brought in and go directly to the home of a volunteer foster. It’s truly our biggest need at all times, and without them we can’t save any cats at all. As a foster parent, you are truly giving the gift of life. It’s a self-less way to volunteer your time and your heart.

Mew will pay for vet care and supplies, so you only need to be able to provide a temporary loving, safe environment until the cat is ready for adoption, or for your specifified time frame.

How long does it take to foster?

This depends on many factors including the type of cat, personality and age. Kittens generally adopt sooner than adults. Many of our kittens are adopted within just a few days of posting.

What kind of space do i NEED?

You can foster in virtually any home. For the first few days, you will need a space where you can keep the foster pets seperated, After that, they can free roam if you allow.

wHAT DOES IT COST TO FOSTER?

Mew pays for supplies and vet care. Some fosters do choose to pay for some supplies, but this is a personal choice.

What if i travel?

We have a great group of fosters that can offer to keep your foster cat(s), or you are allowed to use your personal resident sitter for the foster cats in your home.

Our Approach

Compassion for all animals and the people who care for them. We strive to provide a non-judgmental environment to build bridges and relationships with our community.

Community engagement and participation in all our programs. We strive to empower our community to be the change they want to see and rely on our volunteers to be a part of all of our programs.

Progress and growth every day. We strive to consistently be on the front lines of progressive policies and programming in the animal welfare community, knowing that change is made by taking risks, challenging the standard and always thinking differently.
